What is this? Carmen cannot correctly calculate your grade in this course because several grade categories involve extra credit, which Carmen handles poorly. This calculator corrects for that by using the raw percentage figures Carmen reports for each category and applying the proper weighting.

Open your Carmen grades page in a web browser (not the Canvas app), save it as an HTML file:

File → Save Page As →Webpage, Complete (*htm;*html)

This is rather than HTML Only, but try that instead if Webpage, Complete doesn't work; note also that the latter will download a folder as well, which isn't needed for the calculator so can be discarded.

Then drop the html file below, and your grades will be filled in automatically. Note: Carmen’s Print-to-PDF uses encoded fonts that cannot be read automatically — please use the HTML save method. In Chrome, Ctrl+S (Windows) or Cmd+S (Mac) saves instantly. You can then adjust any value to explore hypothetical scenarios. This is an interim grade — it reflects only what has been submitted and graded so far.

📊 Grades — The most useful tab. Shows every individual quiz, exam, and assignment with your score. Missing and zero grades are highlighted in red so you can see exactly what you still need to do. You can type in hypothetical future scores and watch your grade recalculate live — great for planning what you need on upcoming assessments. Requires uploading your Carmen grades file on the Calculator tab first. Does not load if you enter your Carmen summary grades (bottom of your grades page) manually.

📄 How to Save Your Carmen Grades Page

Carmen cannot correctly calculate your grade in courses with extra credit categories. Use this calculator instead. First, select your class on the Class tab. Then save your Carmen grades page as a file and drop it into the Calculator tab. Here is how to do that on different browsers and devices.

💻 On a Desktop or Laptop Computer (recommended)

Option A — Save as HTML (recommended):

  1. Open Carmen in your web browser and go to your grades page for your course. Use a browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari — not the Canvas app, which does not show the data this calculator needs.
  2. In your browser menu, choose File → Save Page As… (or press Ctrl+S on Windows / Cmd+S on Mac — this keyboard shortcut works in Chrome and bypasses the menu entirely).
  3. In the save dialog, set the format to Webpage, Complete or Webpage, HTML Only (not PDF). Either should work, but Complete is more reliable on some browsers.
  4. Save the file anywhere on your computer, then go to the Calculator tab and drop the file into the upload area, or click the upload area to browse for it.

Option B — Print to PDF:

  1. Go to your Carmen grades page for your course in a web browser.
  2. Choose File → Print… (or press Ctrl+P / Cmd+P).
  3. Set the destination to Save as PDF (or “Microsoft Print to PDF” on Windows).
  4. Click Save, then drop the PDF into the Calculator tab upload area.
⚠️ Note on Print-to-PDF: Some browsers use encoded fonts in their PDF output that cannot be read automatically. If the calculator cannot find your grades in a PDF, save as HTML instead (Option A).

📲 On a Phone or Tablet

Important: You must use Carmen in a web browser (Chrome, Safari, or Firefox) — not the Canvas app.

Saving an HTML file from a mobile browser is difficult. If you only have a phone or tablet, open Carmen in your mobile browser, scroll to the very bottom of your grades page, and enter your category percentages manually in the Calculator tab (see below).

🔍 Manual Entry: Finding Your Category Percentages

If you prefer to enter grades manually, scroll to the very bottom of your Carmen grades page in a web browser. You will see a summary table listing each grade category. Look for these rows and enter the percentage shown into the corresponding field, as located there in the second column. Leave any field blank if that category has no grades yet.

After selecting your class on the Class tab, the Calculator tab shows the correct fields with the Carmen category name underneath each label for easy matching.

For History / Pharmacy 3708:
Exams (20% × 2 = 40%) → Exams
LQc: In-class Lecture Quizzes (20%) → Lecture Quizzes
RPc: Final Research Presentation (20%) → Final Research Presentation
CPc: Class Participation (20%) → Class Participation
VQo: On-line Vocabulary Quizzes → Vocabulary Quizzes

For Microbiology 4000.2:
Exams Lec (600/1000 points) → Lecture Exams
LQc ave (150/1000 points) → Lecture Quizzes
Exams lab (120/1000 points) → Lab Exams
LPQc ave (60/1000 points) → Lab Prep Quizzes
Binomial (23.3/1000 points) → Binomial Quiz
Unknown Determination (46.7/1000 points) → Unknown Determination

📄 Other Classes

This tab displays grades from any Canvas course — not just the courses supported by this calculator. Save your Canvas grades page as an HTML file (see the How To tab for instructions) and drop it below. Your grades will be displayed grouped by category and sorted by due date, with missing and zero scores highlighted in red. No grade correction is applied — scores are shown exactly as Canvas reports them.
